Dear friends:
My name is Anastasios Baxevanidis.
I am candidate mayor for Richmond Hill
For a better community and safer Town, we must work together in spirit
of freedom and with the ideals of democracy.
We will need abundance of courage, patience, and ingenuity to overcome
the Herculean tasks ahead of us.
Environment.
Our environment needs the most power we can master to stop the
continuous destruction of our natural wealth.
The irresponsible development policies, from a "non existing
Official Plan", left behind a blanket of asphalt pavement and shingles.
Our slogan is, save the Oak Ridges Moraine, save the Wilcox lake, save
the marshes, save the springs with the creeks, save the good natural character
of the Town.
The catastrophic and relentless ignorance of the persistent safety
issues in the danger zone of the train lines, put in grave danger thousands of
people at risk. As far as the environment along the rail lines is concern, the
area of two hundred meters on each side, from south to north that split the
Town in two, are dangerous areas to the
lives of the people and poisonous to the health of the residents along the tracks.
Pedestrian's safety left unattended.
Transportation
The tyrannical issue of
transportation, is a model of monopoly where the public has no, zip power to
interfere or correct anything, until the renewal of the contract, and that
depends on the lock conditions. There are alternative transportation management
models that could ease the existing difficulties the Region and the Town are facing. The strongest parameter is the
unemployment issue in the Town and then is the management model.
Outsourcing is the invention of incompetent politicians, and ruthless
managers.
Caring.
We live in a permafrost and stagnant economy. Nobody says anything about
those left behind the train. Our society is indifferent to elderly, sick,
disable, and poor members in our "civilized society".
